Comparative Analysis of Oral Health-Related Quality of Life in Adult According to Oral Health Status

Abstract
The purpose of study is to compare the difference of self-reported halitosis according to the socio-demographic characteristics, lifestyle, and oral symptoms of adults, and to compare the difference of oral health-related quality of life according to self-reported halitosis. Investiagtion was performed from 11/01/2016 to 11/15/2016 on adult patients who visited a hospital in J province for general check-up, and the data from 151 patients out of 200 were analyzed.
The results showed that, first, in terms of self-reported halitosis was no significant difference according to socio-demographic characteristics. Second, in terms of self-reported halitosis was a significant difference according to life style between sleeping pattern and exercise. Third, in terms of self-reported halitosis was a significant difference according to oral symptoms in xerostomia, gingival bleeding, and symptomatic teet. Fourth, In terms of Oral health-related quality of life, all 7 factors: Functional limitation, Physical pain, Physical disability, Psychological disability, Social disability, Social disadvantage under quality of life showed significant difference. The results of the study suggest that, in order to increase quality of life related to oral health, oral hygiene instruction and programs that can enhance the oral health status are needed.
